What we do

Blood is a vital organ that carries oxygen and nutrients around the body to the organs and tissues that need them. At the same time it takes waste products away. The cells of the blood fight infection and promote healing and repair of damaged tissues.

Disorders of the blood may produce a multitude of symptoms, and ill health may lead to changes in the blood system. Because blood has many different and often complex functions in normal health, diseases and disorders of the blood require clinical care from doctors who are specialised in the diagnosis and management of blood conditions.

The Sheffield Haematology Clinic offers a consultative diagnostic and treatment service to adult patients with blood disease such as:
- Anaemia
- Thrombocytopenia
- Neutropenia
- Myeloproliferative disorders
- Leuakemia and Lymphoma
- Myeloma
